1. Application Process

Step 1: Verify Eligibility

Before offering a position to a CPT student, verify their eligibility:

• The student must have maintained valid F-1 status for at least one academic year.
• The job must be directly related to the student’s major field of study.
• The student must be enrolled in an internship or course related to the employment.

Eligible Work Authorization Categories for Internships or O-CA Program(capstone project):

• CPT (Curricular Practical Training) for F-1 Students
• OPT (Optional Practical Training) for F-1 Students
• STEM OPT Extension for F-1 Students
• J-1 Visa Exchange Visitors (including Intern and Trainee categories)
• H-4 Dependent Spouses of H-1B Visa Holders (with employment authorization)
• L-2 Dependent Spouses of L-1 Visa Holders (with employment authorization)
• O-3 Dependent Spouses of O-1 Visa Holders (with employment authorization)
• E-2 Dependent Spouses of E-2 Visa Holders (with employment authorization)
• U Visa Holders
• T Visa Holders
• Permanent Resident (Green Card holders)
